Peng Jun is the first Chinese lawyer to have appeared on behalf of Government of China before a WTO dispute settlement body. He has extensive practical experience in cross-border investment and cross-border compliance. He serves as Special Legal Counsel to the Chinese government in cross-border investment legislation and international economic and trade agreement negotiations, and has been ranked as a Band 1 lawyer in International Trade by Chambers and Partners for consecutively since 2011. He has also been consistently listed in the Corporate/M&A rankings of leading global legal directories including ALB, IFLR1000 and Legal 500. With years of hands-on experience, Mr. Peng has developed extensive industry knowledge and a deep understanding of the commercial objectives underlying transactions, enabling him to creatively structure deals that maximize clients' commercial interests while mitigating potential compliance risks.

• Outbound Investment:
  Mr. Peng serves as negotiation counsel to the Chinese government on outbound investment matters, assisting in the negotiations of the China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as in the legislation governing outbound investment. He has advised large state-owned enterprises including China Communications Construction Company, China Railway Construction Corporation and China Energy Engineering Corporation, as well as private enterprises, on dozens of outbound investment and M&A projects. Mr. Peng was named a "Brand Star" by Legal Newswire in the fields of energy, environment and natural resources, and outbound investment and engineering. The outbound investment projects he advised have been repeatedly selected as Top Ten Excellent Legal Service Projects of the Belt and Road Initiative by Legal Daily and as Deals of the Year by China Business Law Journal.
• Cross-border Compliance:
  Mr. Peng is a recognized expert in cross-border compliance. He assisted the Chinese government in negotiating WTO rules on e-commerce and the digital economy, and provides legal services including compliance consulting, compliance framework development, compliance risk assessment and response to a broad range of government and corporate clients in areas such as economic sanctions and counter-sanctions, export controls, cybersecurity and data protection. Mr. Peng was named "Compliance Lawyer of the Year" at the GRCD China Compliance Awards, and was recognized as a "Thought Leader" in the Trade & Customs sector in Lexology Index's Global, Mainland China and Hong Kong rankings.
• International Trade and WTO Dispute Resolution:
  Mr. Peng is one of the few Chinese lawyers with deep expertise in WTO law. He has represented the Chinese government in more than ten WTO dispute settlement proceedings and is the first Chinese lawyer to have argued before a WTO dispute settlement panel hearing.
